Help the historic Ace Cafe London to raise £100,000 for Jeans for Genes

Ace Cafe London is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2008 by supporting Jeans for Genes.  It’s aiming to raise £100,000 towards the creation of the Jeans for Genes Genetic Roadmap.

Scientists at the Institute of Child Health, the research arm of Great Ormond Street Hospital, want to find the locations of the key genes which cause genetic disorders.

They need to get the full picture – the entire road network not just the main towns and cities – in order to design the best methods of treatment.

With around 25,000 genes in our bodies, you can see that the creation of the Jeans for Genes Genetic Roadmap is no easy task.

General Motors contributes towards Ace's total

General Motors celebrated their centenary at Ace on the 16th September 2008.

They brought Vauxhalls dating from 1903 from their museum, and owners' club members brought a long their prized possessions including Chevrolets from the 50s and 60s, Cadillacs from 1941 to the present day, and Saabs including a '96 V4, a '99 Turbo and the new Turbo X.

Together with a raffle, the event raised a fantastic £1,551.20

We'd like to thank everyone who took part and the whole team at General Motors.

There's nothing urbane about Urbane

Urbane is an innovative company which is using technology to make motorbikes more efficient and less damaging to the environment.

Charley Boorman, TV presenter and travel-mate of Ewan McGregor,  is just one of the many riders who has had his 'bike on their diagnostic treadmill.

Urbane made a £5 donation from testing Charley's bike, and every test that they carried out.  They presented us with a cheque for £500.

We're very grateful to Urbane and we look forward to their support in 2009.  If you'd like to get your motorbike assessed and improved, look out for their trailer at biking events across the UK.  Take a look at their website to find out more.
