ALD Life, family weekend
Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is a rare, terminal, brain disorder. It largely affects boys between the ages of four and ten, who have previously seemed to be normal, healthy youngsters.
The boys lose the ability to do anything for themselves and are left in a vegetative state within months of their symptoms starting. Many of them don't survive a year past their diagnosis. There's no treatment or cure for this devastating condition.
Jeans for Genes will help ALD Life to provide a weekend for families at a hotel in London. Having a child with ALD can be very isolating and It'll be a chance for families to share their experiences.
They'll also be able to talk to specialists in ALD and hear the latest research updates. There'll be entertainment for the children and carers will be on hand to give mums and dads some much needed respite.
